Part one: Elite Group IT Begins

2000- Elite Group IT Is Founded

Founded in 2000, Elite Group IT grew from a simple idea to rent out memorable phone numbers into an industry-leading IT and unified communications provider. Based in Chorley, Lancashire, Elite Group IT now supplies a range of IT service and communication options to businesses across the UK.

2005-2006- Ranked in the Tech Track 100 Two Years in a Row

Growing from strength to strength since it was founded, Elite Group IT was ranked in the Tech Track 100 in both 2005 and 2006. The Sunday Times league table ranks the top 100 private tech companies with the fastest-growing sales, reflecting our exponential growth in the first 5 years of business.

2008- First Acquisition of GP Telecom

Elite Group IT begins its successful acquisitions strategy by acquiring Lancastrian company, GP Telecoms. Resulting in agility and growth, this first acquisition helped to shape the acquisitions strategy of the entire company. To date, Elite Group IT has purchased 20 businesses, expanding our skillset, talent, and service portfolio in the process.

2014- EN North West Technology Entrepreneur of the Year

In 2014, Elite Group IT owner and founder, Matt Newing was awarded the ‘North West Entrepreneur of the Year’ for his portfolio of investments and successful businesses, namely Elite Group IT.

2020- Elite Group IT Begins  

20 years after Elite Group IT was founded, Elite Group IT was set up right here in the heart of Douglas. Combining the ‘local for local’ service of Wi-Manx Business with the experience and resources of Elite Group IT, Elite Group IT is the only locally owned, B2B IT and unified communications provider on the Island.

Part Two: Wi-Manx Unites

2004- Wi-Manx Is Founded

Founded in 2004 as a broadband provider, Wi-Manx quickly grew into a one-stop shop for businesses seeking resilient voice, hosting, Internet and data centre solutions, and for residents looking for cost-effective broadband and first-class technical support.

2012- Next Generation Hosted Voice Platform Launches

In 2012, Wi-Manx launched its next generation hosted voice platform, offering businesses on the island an advanced hosted phone system that drives productivity, collaboration and communication, both internally and externally.

2013- Rated Island’s No.1 Internet Service Provider

Wi-Manx was rated the top internet provider on the Island by Speedtest.net, beating competitors with the fastest average speed available across the Isle of Man.

2014- Wi-Manx Becomes Part of Elite Group IT

This partnership brought mutual benefits to both Wi-Manx and Elite Group IT. While Elite Group IT inherited a highly skilled technical team and state-of-the art data centre, Wi-Manx customers gained access to the Group’s next generation network. With Matt Newing at the helm, Wi-Manx became 100% locally owned and continued to grow exponentially.

2014- Winner of Best Customer Service Award

2020- Business Clients Move to Elite Group IT

Previously supplying both business and residential customers, Wi-Manx became purely B2C in 2020, with business customers moving to Elite Group IT. By separating our provisions under two distinct umbrellas, both our residential and business customers can get the specialised service, knowledge and support they’re looking for.

Part Three: Elite Group IT Iom, Locals For Locals

2020- Cloud First Strategy Launches

In 2020, we decided to adopt a cloud-first strategy, decommissioning our Heywood House datacentre and expanding our product portfolio with the latest cloud-based technology.  With this latest update, we can continue to offer a range of future-proofed IT and unified communications solutions to all our business clients.
